Hello, I’m Captain Rapps.  Each April, May, and June we offer Tarpon fishing charters at the Bahia Honda State Park Bridge area of Big Pine Key, FL.  At this time, Tarpon are Thick!  Pre and post spawn Tarpon gather in huge schools each Spring in the Bahia Honda Chanel.  They come hungry and chances of hooking up are near 100%.

Within 5 minutes from the time we push off, you are fishing for these mammoth fish.  The fight of the mighty Tarpon is a true battle, and an experience of a lifetime.  Tarpon are strictly "Catch and release" sport fish and the satisfaction of releasing a fully revived healthy fish after a photo, is almost better than the battle itself.

Captain Rapps' charters are personalized 1st class charters.  You will be treated with care and respect, and will have a great time for sure!  Since we fish so close to the state park, we are within 5 minutes of clean indoor rest rooms.  We are very patient and love to teach our customers how to fish, so whether you are a beginner or have some experience, this charter is for you!

• All the necessary fishing licenses, insurance, fuel

 

Rates & Times

Trips are scheduled during typical peak bite times to give you
the best opportunities for multiple hook-ups!

4 Hour Morning Tarpon Charter = $450

4 Hour Evening Tarpon Charter = $450

Middle of the night under the moon charters: $750

Tips: Tipping your captain is customary in the charter business.
Typically it is the same as giving gratuity to your waiter in a restaurant.
15- 20% is a good rule of thumb, depending on what you feel the captain earned.

How to Reserve Your Trip:

Please do not wait till the last minute - Be sure to book as far as possible in advance to reserve the exact dates you would like to fish.  For these Tarpon charters,  It is not uncommon for us to have bookings several months ahead.  Please feel free to book online 24/7, or send an email with the contact form on this site, or call so we can discuss available times and dates.

Items you should bring along:

• Camera
• Hat, sun protective clothing, & sunglasses (preferably polarized)
• Sun Screen
• Drinks & Snacks - Captain will provide cooler with Ice
• Rain gear
• Non-Skid boat shoes  (no black, dark, or marking soles please)

* Please keep your items to a minimum - stowage space is very limited

Deposits, Cancellations & Payment

A $100 deposit is required to book your charter.

Fishing is completely dependent on cooperation from Mother Nature.  We keep an eye on weather and keep you informed on wind and weather forecasts.  Captain Rapps does have to periodically cancel trips due to inclement weather. If Capt. Rapps cancels, you will receive a full refund.

If the customer cancels the trip giving us at least a 7 day notice, they will receive a full refund.
A customer who does not show up, or does not give at least a 7 day notice, will however, forfeit their deposit.
